Victoria
Edwards - Professional Make-Up & Hair Artist
In 1991 Victoria Edwards decided to train
as a Make-up Artist.
At that time make-up artists were only for the rich and famous
and generally did not work with Jo Public unless they were
really stretched for cash. So it was particularly difficult
to find someone to do professional make-up for a special occasion.
For her own wedding make-up Victoria had a couple of practice
make-ups at cosmetic counters but was largely unimpressed.
Leaving her 'comfy-but-dull' Public
Servant job was hard but liberating and after saving all her
pennies she managed to get into the London College of Fashion
where she studied Photographic Make-up. This covered a large
variety of make-up styles which included Bridal, Catwalk,
Corrective & Historical techniques. She then went and
trained in Special Effects & Horror techniques at Shepperton
Film Studios.
Working for very little money, she
managed to gain experience by assisting other established
make-up artists and working in busy makeover studios. After
furthering her hairdressing skills at the acclaimed Jingles
Hair Academy, she decided to open her own make-up business
- Moving MakeUp in
1995.
Word spread and her skills were soon in demand - it wasn't
long before she had worked with hundreds of brides.
In 2005 she moved to sunny Perth and now runs a busy mobile
make-up & hairstyling service in the Southern Suburbs.
